Saint Vincent Archabbey, was founded in 1846 by Father Boniface Wimmer, OSB, and is the oldest Benedictine monastery in the United States. The Benedictine monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey operate and teach at Saint Vincent College and Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, located 40 miles (64 km) southeast of Pittsburgh. The monks also provide pastoral care for Catholics in the Dioceses of BaltimoreGreensburgPittsburghHarrisburgAltoona-Johnstown, and Richmond. The monks also run a military school in Savannah, Georgia (Benedictine Military School). The Archabbey also has priories in Taiwan and Brazil.
